Project title Nexus

Project description Camden’s creative cultural scene is declining. This project proposes an environment that aims to attract young designers back into the area to produce work ‘in the style of Camden’ via a creativity hub. It will allow people to create artwork that addresses social issues. The co-living and co-working environment will allow 140 artists to interact with different disciplines together in distinct modules. The work produced within the building will be showcased on site, with the community invited to experience it. The overarching idea is to provide jobs and cheap homes for artists that will essentially feed into markets to boost the economy.

Tutor citation In his provocative project, Ethan speculates about an environment where designers would live and work in a replicating state of their subconscious mind, which is always active. His work demonstrates innovative research on the idea of subconscious space. Bea Martin

Project title The Consciousness versus Object’s Phenomena • A Celestial Exploration

Project description This project consists of an assemblage of objects and consciousness embedded into particles that create a flexible protective sphere around the earth. It changes shape according to the needs of the planet and creates celestial decoration for people to observe. After being unloaded from a spacecraft into orbit, the conscious-filled particles are pulled towards earth by gravity and have three objectives: harvesting solar energy for fuelling the spacecraft and use on earth; swarming into a sphere to protect the earth from radiation and eventually from meteorites; and then returning.

Tutor citation Ana’s project provokes issues around environmental justice through a radical space architecture, raising questions on the life of living and non-living matter, and bringing it forward to sophisticated philosophical levels such as object-oriented ontology. Nic Clear and Hyun Jun Park
